Jackson Hole Wedding | Veronica + Kaylor
Western Meets Modern Elegance Wedding in Jackson Hole Wyoming at Diamond Cross Ranch
Jackson Wyoming, It was my first time shooting a wedding here. There were moments when I was driving down highway 89, with the Grand Teton range on my left that I felt so overcome with gratitude that this place exists and I actually get to be here working in it. There is so much to do in this beautiful place! Yellowstone National Park is only an hour away, and The Grand Teton National Park has stunning views and hikes for days! My favorite hike was to hidden falls where we were able to take the Jenny Lake ferry boat across the lake to start the hike. Such a surreal moment I will never forget. Wyoming is such an underrated state and now I can say I have been back again since this wedding to document another’s wedding and I hope it’s not my last time.
Veronica & Kaylor, are currently in the Air Force stationed out in New Mexico, but wanted to have a destination wedding in a place that felt very different. Because days off in the military are hard to come by, they both saved up vacation time and took one week off to get married at Diamond Cross Ranch in Moran, WY. Read below why the bride chose her destination wedding at DCR.
I very quickly realized that Diamond Cross Ranch was not just any ranch but THE RANCH. When I told my second shooter this is where we were shooting, he said he even applied at this ranch to be a cowboy at one time and it’s one of the most iconic ranches ever. Not only do they have the most beautiful view of the Grand Teton range where you could have your ceremony, they also have a horse rescue program where Grant Golliher, an iconic cowboy helps troubled horses work through their trauma by using horse whispering methods. Even the Kardashians have spent time at this ranch lol! Ok, I know this wasn’t about weddings but I think the background and history of venues are certainly important when choosing one. This venue offers the chance to combine western with modern elegance without feeling too rustic burlap mason jar ish. If you know what I mean lol. Check out more about weddings at the ranch here.
It truly was an honor to photograph Veronica & Kaylor. Their ceremony was beautiful and emotional and quite unreal when the staff at DCR released all the horses to run behind them during their first kiss! Veronica looked so high fashion chic in her wedding dress which I thought complimented the western beauty of the land so well. The best part was watching everyone around them just beaming for them. The way everyone looked at both of them, smiling, running up to them and giving them the biggest hugs, you could tell they were people who mean so much to so many people. Their dance party was the best! Grandpa was on the floor with his walker holding it high in the air dancing, grown men were doing the splits, and everyone was so present in the moment having the best time! Check out the photos below!
FROM THE BRIDE:
What was your favorite part of your wedding day and why?
Our couple’s wedding photo shoot! we made sure photography was our #1 priority and we were really looking forward to it. It was nice to have someone take professional photos of us haha we never had that kind of experience!
Why did you choose your venue?
the venue was well known for their scenery! It had the most perfect view of the Teton
Have any advice for future couples planning a destination wedding?
100% hire a wedding planner. Because Kaylor and I live outside of Wyoming, we weren’t able to check out the venue or coordinate with any of our vendors in person. Having our wedding planner really made the communication/coordination piece easier with our vendors.
