Far West Texas Engagements | Allie + David

Editorial inspired Engagement Photos of the Desert of Far West Texas and Big Bend National Park

Every year I run off to this part of the country and take some time to recharge my creativity battery before busy season starts again. Far west Texas has been a special place to me since college. (well over ten years ago, lol showing my age here now) I first started going out there on mission trips to Candelaria, where I worked with a doctor to provide medical care to the town out there. After that, I was hooked and it became a place of sanctuary for me.

When my clients were ready to have their engagement photos done, Allie said to me, I will go anywhere in this country you want to go or wherever you will be traveling. I thought to myself, well, I’ll be in west Texas in February for a few weeks camping in my truck camper and what a fun way to show off the land I love so much than to do a photo shoot (again) there. Allie and David flew into El Paso and drove to Marfa where we danced around and played in front of the famous Prada Marfa art installation in Valentine, Texas. After that we went out to dinner and had drinks and talked the night away about weddings and life and got to know each other better. I swear it was like I had known them for years because we all instantly became best friends. The next day we went and walked and shopped around Marfa where I took snapshots of everything authentically unfolding about their day. We drove to Big Bend National Park that evening and spent the evening amongst the mountains where we watched the sun set and the stars come to life. We went to Starlight theatre in Terlingua, where I’ve met and made friends with many of the locals. If you haven’t been, make that a priority on your list of things to do in Big Bend. There was live music, two stepping, drinking to be had and incredible food.

This is what it’s all about for me - making genuine connections and becoming friends with my couples. I’m so glad we got to make a weekend out of it and get to share our love for the land. You guys just wait until their wedding, this is just the start! If you’re looking for non-traditional engagement photos, say hey and fill out my inquiry form here!

From the Bride:

What was your favorite part about your weekend and west Texas?

Fav part was exploring Marfa and the national park for the first time with YOU! It was so much fun, and it was great getting to know you as quickly as we did! It’s so important to us to have a close relationship with our photographer!

What was your favorite location to shoot in?

Fav location was a tie between prada and national park. I think I loved prada because of the time of day and the outfits. The national park was just gorgeous and it was great getting to drive through it

Where are your outfits from?

My white dress at Prada was from Jaus

My pewter dress was from Free People

My corset was from Amazon and my jeans were from Citizens of humanity (I think)

Hat is Kemosabe

Boots are from Maven Womenswear
