Best Places to Take Engagement Photos In New York City — Alexandra & Ari
I recently had the pleasure of shooting a super chic engagement session in the heart of New York City, and let me tell you, it was a dream. This couple—who live and work in NYC with their adorable 9-year-old French bulldog—wanted their photos to capture their love for the city, fashion, and each other. And they absolutely nailed it.
I’ve been to New York City numerous times and I can honestly say these locations are some of the best places to take engagement photos in New York City. Having multiple locations gives your clients such a diverse and dynamic gallery and I think that’s key to getting creative and capturing candid photos. After our session we went to a fun dinner and had incredible food and cocktails and talked wedding shop all evening!
We kicked off the session near Central Park, where the spring blooms were in full swing. The Conservatory Garden’s Burnett Fountain was one of our first stops, and it made for some seriously romantic shots. After that, we hit up a few of their favorite spots around the city, including the Guggenheim Museum, Lincoln Center and a few hidden gems with stunning views of Central Park. They even made the streets of NYC their runway, showing off their high-fashion looks, complete with Prada shoes—because why not? (linked here, it’s taking everything in me not to buy these)
One thing I loved about this shoot was how personal it was. These two have been together since their college days in Washington D.C. and got engaged on July 4th. Alex & Ari enjoy the good stuff in life: food, wine, art, and travel. And let’s not forget their love for fashion, which was front and center in this shoot. Their style is so New York chic, and they brought that vibe to every shot we took.
They’re also planning their wedding at a restaurant - Jupiter at the Rockefeller Center, which just makes so much sense given their love for food, wine, and the city. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together and share with you guys!
So, if you’re thinking about where to take your engagement photos in NYC, take a page out of this couple’s book: find spots that are meaningful to you, get creative, and most importantly, have fun with it. The city’s your playground!
I will be in New York City quite a bit in 2024 and 2025, reach out if you are looking for fun engagement photos around the city or a wedding photographer here!
